The Ladybower Inn Ashopton , near Bamford, Derbyshire
This Pub overlooks Ladybower dam and is situated on the A57 main Sheffield to Manchester road. The villiage of Ashopton is now under the water of Ladybower dam. There are some great walks in this area around the three adjoining dams.
There is also some wonderful hill walking. If you follow the A57 towards Manchester on leaving the pub after a short distance you will cross a bridge with an
immediate right hand turn after it sign posted Fairholmes. Follow this road and you will come to Derwent Dams where the Dambusters practiced for their
daring
raids on Germany in World War II. Here there is a visitor centre and car park. If you follow derwent dam to its head you will then come to Howden Dam the oldest of the three dams.
