The George Hotel, Castleton, Derbyshire.

Set in the centre of the famous peak district village of Castleton. A superb Pub ideally situated for a refreshment stop when exploring the area. Incidently there is a great fish and chip shop a short distance from the Pub. The entrance to Peveril castle is only a very short walk from the pub. There is also of course castleton's famous caverns Blue John Mine, Speedwell Cavern, Treak Cliff Cavern and Peak Cavern in the surrounding area. Mam Tor is also near Castleton. The village has a fairly good bus service from Sheffield and other places. Visit Derbyshire Travel information for more details.

For more details on location etc visit Multimap. The postcode is S33 8WG.

If you fancy a walk I would recommend walking over to Edale. The most straight forward way is to cross the ridge via Hollins Cross this should take about an hour to an hour and a half. To do this turn left as you come out of the Pub and then turn right at the T junction. Follow the road round the sharp left hand corner. The road then curves sharply to the right. There is a road that goes straight on on this corner. Take the road that goes straight on. After some time you will arrive at the bottom of the ridge where the road curves sharply to the left. on this corner is a path leading straight on. Follow the path, this will then take you up to Hollins Cross, The views of both Castleton and Edale from here. You will see the path in front of you desending down the ridge to Edale. Follow this. When you reach the road turn left and continue until you reach the road on the right when you will see the railway bridge and Edale station. There are buses from here back to Castleton. For more information on Edale see Edale the horseshoe walk.
The walk to Edale consists of some very steep hills.
