Situated in the village of Buttermere by arguably the Lake Districts finest lake this is a superb pub.
When you sit inside the pub it has large panoramic windows through which the spectacular scenery outside seems to come into the pub.
In summer the patio at the rear of the pub is a brilliant sun trap again the scenery around seems to come to you.
There is a campsite that is situated just down the lane that runs down the right hand side of the pub. it is only a short walk.
In my experience when looking for campsites a pub nearby always makes the site very appealing. The lake can be reached by following the path that runs down the left hand side of the pub.
There is also the Bridge hotel a minutes walk from this pub.

There is also a nice cafe close by.

From the spot this picture was taken there is a path right round the lake, this makes a fantastic walk. it will take you 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours to walk right round.

An interesting place to visit is the Honister Slate mine where they are open to the public. This can be found at the summit of the Honister pass. To see the mines website
